A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS
Questions about car entry.
Entry, trunk access, identification and existing roadside assistance.
Will unlocking damage my car?
The approach depends on your vehicle and its security system. Discuss the proposed method and any risks before work begins. Forcing the door or sliding improvised tools through the window seal can cause damage; leave the entry work to the provider.
What if my ID is locked inside too?
Explain that before anyone is sent. Ask what the provider accepts as proof that you are authorized to access the vehicle, and how they handle documents locked inside. A rental, borrowed or fleet vehicle may need the owner’s authorization.
Can every vehicle be opened?
Some security systems and trunk arrangements need a different approach. Give the exact year, make and model so the provider can assess the vehicle. Missing or broken keys are a different problem from keys locked inside.
Should I check my roadside assistance first?
If you already have a roadside, manufacturer or insurance assistance plan, check whether it includes lockout help and whether you are eligible. Confirm any cost, limits and expected arrival directly with that provider.
